Background: Jochen Monstadt is professor of spatial and infrastructure planning at the Darmstadt University of Technology. Between 2007 and 2009, he was a visiting scholar at the City Institute at York University (CITY), where he completed a comparative study of energy and water management in Toronto, Los Angeles and Berlin. He sits on the editorial board of the journal Public Works Management and Policy.
Research Interests: Infrastructure planning; co-evolution between cities and infrastructures; governance of urban infrastructures; environmental and spatial issues associated with the restructuring and (re-)regulation of utility industries (water and energy supply, wastewater and waste systems); Urban and regional governance and planning; sustainable urban and regional development; comparative urban/regional studies.
